Join us for a lively and conversational Meet & Greet where board members from Public Listed Companies (PLC) and non-governmental organisations (NGO) come together to share their experiences and insights. This interactive session will be a unique opportunity to hear directly from those who have navigated the intricacies of both types of boards.

Fatimah Merican
Independent Non-Executive Director, Paramount Corporation Berhad

Fatimah Merican is an Executive Coach focused on women in leadership. With over 35 years of experience in ExxonMobil in various professional, managerial and leadership roles, juggling career and family, Fatimah is well equipped to coach women aspiring to leadership roles.

Fatimah is an Independent Non-Executive Director (INED) of Paramount Corporation Berhad and also former INED of United Overseas Bank (Malaysia) Berhad and IJM Plantations Berhad.

For most of her career, Fatimah was in IT, working in Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand. Fatimah is an advocate for inclusion and diversity, developing and running a programme for ExxonMobil IT in support of culturally diversified and dispersed teams.

Raja Singham
Managing Director & Chief Future Officer, BAC Education Group

Raja Singham, the Founder, Managing Director and Chief Future Officer of the BAC Education Group is an Educator, Entrepreneur and Social Leader. With over 30 years in the education industry, Raja Singham was named “Education Man of the Year” by the Brand Laureate for his significant contributions and revolutionary approach to education in Malaysia. A visionary by all standards and entrepreneurial in the many initiatives he has introduced within the industry, Raja Singham envisions to impact 10 million lives by 2030. 

His strategic intent is to bring about a change in the lives of individuals and communities through education and social good. With over 30 entities within the BAC Education Group and growing, Raja’s vision of innovating and revolutionising education on every level to TRANSFORM A MILLION LIVES THROUGH KNOWLEDGE is well on its way.

Anne Abraham
Founder & Chairperson of LeadWomen

Anne Abraham was a corporate leader from the technology industry for more than 20 years before she founded LeadWomen Sdn Bhd, a consulting and training company in 2011. It started with a focus on gender diversity and has since evolved over the years into the space of the greater diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI). She has always been a strong advocate for gender balanced leadership, and hence her work now centers on creating equitable workplaces and boardrooms for all to thrive.

Recognised as a thought leader in diversity and inclusion, both locally and regionally, a frequent speaker, facilitator and moderator in leadership events.

She currently serves as the Chairperson and Founder, LeadWomen Sdn Bhd, and Independent Non-Executive Chairperson of Metrod Holdings Berhad. She is also the Co-Founder of the Malaysian Chapter of the 30% Club (business campaign), Faculty Members of Institute of Corporate Directors Malaysia (ICDM) and Adjunct Professor at UNITAR.

Members Meet & Greet with Tan Sri Dr Rebecca Fatima Sta Maria (Jan 2024)

LeadWomen's community entered the new year with a vibrant Meet & Greet session featuring Tan Sri Dr Rebecca Sta Maria 

Our members seized the opportunity to connect and engage in open, honest discussions with Tan Sri, gaining valuable insights into her groundbreaking journey as the first woman Executive Director of the APEC Secretariat and her other inspiring board and leadership experiences. 

Acknowledging the crucial role of ongoing discussions about DEI at the board level, Anne Abraham emphasised that there is a pressing need for sustained efforts in advancing the women's leadership pipeline for a sustainable future. 

Adding to the enriching event, we also had representatives from Robert Walters Malaysia, Ai Rene Tan, and Sammie Sam, sharing invaluable information on current board search trends and demands with our members.

We express our heartfelt thank you to Tan Sri Dr Rebecca and all our dedicated members and we look forward to a year of growth, collaboration, and empowerment!

2023 Recap

Members Meet & Greet (Feb 2023)

LeadWomen organised a Members' Meet & Greet session that reflects how "women supporting women" may aid in navigating challenging situations. In addition to expertise sharing, practical suggestions were offered to the challenges women directors continue to face.

The small and intimate session hosted by our chairperson and founder Anne Abraham and participated by our Director Members, illustrates the importance of having a support network which nurtures a sense of awareness, empowerment, and alliance-building that positively influences board relations as well as connections with other women. 

LeadWomen remains committed to providing support to our Director Members as they navigate their professional journeys.

Meet & Greet (Jan 2023)

Hosted by our founder and chairperson Anne Abraham, discussions centered on expertise sharing, providing each other constructive tips on navigating their way with unique proficiencies and spurring growth as they began 2023. What's more, members shared about the challenges they've faced and still face as female or aspiring directors, offering practical suggestions and recommendations to increase women's board representation.
